SDG 16 CONFERENCE
At a time when intersecting global crises are posing unprecedented challenges to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Development Law Organization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy announce that the fourth SDG 16 Conference will take place from 30 May to 1 June 2023 in Rome, Italy.
Commission on Population and Development
A Population Commission was established by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 3 (III) of 3 October 1946. In its resolution 49/128 of 19 December 1994, the General Assembly decided that the Commission should be renamed the Commission on Population and Development.
UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
The Permanent Forum’s engagement and role in promoting indigenous peoples’ rights are made possible through the Trust Fund on Indigenous Issues, which overall facilitates follow-up to the Forum’s recommendations, awareness raising and outreach on indigenous issues as well as representation and participation of Permanent Forum members at international meetings of significance for its mandate. In addition, the trust fund provides support for the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
World Data Forum
The United Nations World Data Forum 2023 will feature more than 100 events, 70 parallel sessions, 30 learning labs, exhibits and much more. Member States, civil society, the private sector, as well as the UN agencies and other organizations are invited to showcase their good practices and success around the 4 themes of the Forum.
5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5)
The world’s Least Developed Countries are in a race against time to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The remaining years need to usher in a new global partnership to ensure these 46 countries benefit from social, economic and environmental development.
26th Session UN Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters
The UN Tax Committee strengthens international cooperation on tax matters, domestic and international, with a special focus on needs and capacities of developing countries in this area. It generates practical guidance for governments, tax administrators and taxpayers to strengthen tax systems for sustainable development.
Committee of Experts on Public Administration
The Committee of Experts on Public Administration will hold its twenty-second session at UN Headquarters in New York from 27 to 31 March 2023. The theme is "Urgently transforming institutions for a greener, more inclusive and more resilient world at a time of multiple crises".
UN 2023 Water Conference
The Conference, co-hosted by the Governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, will feature an opening and closing ceremony, six plenary meetings and five multi-stakeholder interactive dialogues. It will also feature a number of high-level special events and side events organized by Member States, the UN system and other stakeholders.
Committee for Development Policy
The Committee for Development Policy (CDP), a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), advises the Council on a wide range of issues that are relevant for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
