UN ECOSOC holds its 2025 Coordination Segment
The international community will come together on 6-7 February, at UN Headquarters in New York for the 2025 ECOSOC Coordination Segment. The Segment will address the main annual theme of this year's session of ECOSOC and the High-level Political Forum: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind”.
The Coordination Segment will bring together Member States, ECOSOC subsidiary bodies, UN system entities, including specialized agencies, and other participants.
By serving as a platform for coordination, it will provide guidance for the economic, social, health, and environmental efforts of these bodies and entities, ensuring an integrated approach to follow-up on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other major UN conferences and summits.
The event will leverage the contributions of the Council’s subsidiary bodies and UN system entities to preparations of the 2025 HLPF, including review of Sustainable Development Goals on good health and well-being (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), life below water (SDG 14), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).
In addition, the Segment will be an important opportunity to discuss the Council’s implementation of the Pact for the Future as well as contributions from the ECOSOC system to other key processes in 2025. These include:
- The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development
- The Second World Summit for Social Development
- The thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action 1995 (Beijing+30)
- The review of implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20).
