Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone
Every five years, World Statistics Day (WSD) is observed on 20 October. Since it was first celebrated in 2010, the Day provides an opportunity to recognize the importance of official statistics and to highlight the contributions of national and international statistical systems.
The next celebration will take place on 20 October 2025 when the Day will be commemorated under the theme “Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone.” This theme emphasizes the role of high-quality, inclusive, and accessible data in supporting evidence-based decision-making and addressing global challenges.
Activities around the celebration of the WSD have been coordinated by regional commissions, in collaboration with UN DESA’s Statistics Division. A key feature of this year’s observance is a 24-hour global webinar, initiated and coordinated by the UN Regional Commissions, with support from the Statistics Division in UN DESA. The webinar will include sessions from different regions, highlighting local experiences, innovations, and challenges. Countries, international organizations and are encouraged to take part in the webinar and share their perspectives. Other celebration activities around the world will be reflected on the WSD website.
World Statistics Day 2025 offers a chance for the community of official statistics to collaborate and reflect on the value of data and statistics in shaping a better future for all.
