UN High-level Advisory Board gears up for Bangkok meeting

A new group of distinguished members of the United Nations High-level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs (HLAB) is preparing to embark on the third term of the Board, with a two-day meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.

Convened by Li Junhua, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, the Board brings together a dynamic group of prominent academics and thought leaders from around the world.

Members will convene regularly to delve into pressing socioeconomic issues and drive forward innovative ideas and impactful solutions to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Bangkok session is being organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in partnership with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).

Over the two days, HLAB members will offer advice on how to reimagine global cooperation, mobilize SDG finance, drive the green transition, and advance social development in the Asia-Pacific region. The discussions will provide strategic guidance to the UN development system.

On the sidelines of the HLAB meeting, the public will have the opportunity to hear from the HLAB members and ask them questions at a UN DESA Global Policy Dialogue on 23 May. This event, to be held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, will include an in-person and virtual audience.
