More from UN DESA
Next Global Policy Dialogues aim to turbocharge SDGs under review at HLPF
From the climate crisis to global conflicts to the lingering socioeconomic effects of the pandemic, it is clear that the world is facing major challenges that are setting back hard-earned development progress. It is also clear that we need a revitalization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to get us on the best path forward.
To help show that the 2030 Agenda and its 17 interlinked goals are more relevant than ever, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) will host two virtual Global Policy Dialogues to turbocharge SDG implementation in June. Both events will showcase the goals that will be examined in-depth at July’s UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and offer a preview of the forthcoming The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2023: Special Edition.
The first event, “Accelerating Clean Water and Energy for All: Exploring SDGs 6 and 7” (20 June, 9:00-10:15 a.m. EDT), will consider new methods for building better partnerships for water and energy as well as highlight innovations that can benefit both goals at once.
The second event, “Innovations for Sustainable Cities and Communities: Exploring SDGs 9 and 11” (22 June, 9:00-10:15 a.m. EDT) also look at partnerships for these goals and consider the latest in building inclusive smart cities.
Both events will feature speakers from UN leadership, as well as from Member States, the UN High-level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs, the Independent Group of Scientists preparing the Global Sustainable Development Report 2023, civil society and the private sector. Multilingual captioning will be available.
