ECOSOC convenes its High-level Segment
The High-level Segment of ECOSOC, including the three-day ministerial segment of the HLPF, will be convened from Monday, 21 July, through Thursday, 24 July 2025. The theme of the 2025 ECOSOC and HLPF is Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind.
On the final day of the High-level Segment on 24 July, there will be the Introduction of the Secretary-General’s reports on the theme of HLPF and ECOSOC, and on long-term impact of current trends on the realization of the SDGs and Introduction of the report of the Committee for Development Policy.
Two sessions will take place on that day:
- “UN at 80: the role of ECOSOC in leading action for a stronger and more effective multilateral system”; and
- “Global trends and their future impacts: globalization and international cooperation in a transforming world”.
Negotiations on the ministerial declaration of the high-level segment of the 2025 session of the Economic and Social Council and the High-level Political Forum are being co-facilitated by H.E. Mr. Jakub Kulhánek, Permanent Representative of Czechia to the United Nations, and H.E. Ms. Inga Rhonda King, Permanent Representative of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations.
Additional upcoming events hosted by ECOSOC this month include the July Management Segment of ECOSOC (29-30 July 2025, ECOSOC Chamber) and the 2026 Organizational Session of ECOSOC (31 July 2025).
