7 special events you need to know at the 2022 HLPF

Every year at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), UN DESA, as the secretariat of the Forum, curates a “Special Events Programme”. Stakeholder groups, such as the private sector, local and regional governments, and higher education institutions come together and share their knowledge and experience on SDG progress.

We look forward to your participation, be it in-person or virtual, at the following 2022 HLPF Special Events:

1. SDGs Learning, Training and Practice Workshops will feature a series of capacity building and knowledge learning sessions on critical topics related to the implementation of the SDGs under review at the 2022 HLPF (Goals 4, 5, 14, 15 and 17).
In person: Tuesday 5 July 11:00-13:00 EDT,
Virtual: 5,6,7,11, and 12 July, 8:30-10:15, 14:00-15:45 EDT

2. HESI+10 Global Forum will mark the 10th anniversary of the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI), seeking to deepen understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the higher education community in promoting a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic while advancing full implementation of the SDGs.
Virtual: 6 July, 7:00-8:30 AM EDT

3. The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World will launch the annual flagship report to inform on progress towards ending hunger, achieving food security and improving nutrition, and to provide in-depth analysis on key challenges.
In-person: Tuesday 6 July, 10:00-13:00 EDT

4. Local and Regional Governments Forum will showcase innovative actions taken by local and regional governments to implement the SDGs under review at the 2022 HLPF, including by building on reporting processes such as the Voluntary Local Reviews and Voluntary Sub-national Reviews. It will also seek to foster multilevel governance and promote partnerships.

In-person: Tuesday 12 July, 15:00-18:00 EDT

5. SDG 6 Special Event will take the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework to the country level by sharing national experiences implementing the targets for water and sanitation.
In-person: Wednesday 13 July, 8:00-9:30 EDT
Virtual: Thursday 14 July, 8:30-10:00 EDT

6. Chief Sustainability Officers for SDGs will bring together business leaders and sustainability champions for an engaging virtual dialogue to explore the commitments that leading companies are making to tackle inequality and arrest nature loss.
Virtual: Wednesday 13 July, 9:00-10:30 EDT

7. Parliamentary Forum will center on SDG17 as a key enabler of the whole SDG enterprise. It will draw on three SDG 17 targets of particular relevance to parliaments that are key to financing the SDGs, namely, domestic revenue mobilization, development assistance and public-private partnerships.
